So I went looking. Starbucks has not released nutrition for this drink, and it will not until it hits stores on October 22, 2026. That is normal for a limited-time launch. But "we do not know yet" is a useless answer when you are trying to plan an order, so I built an estimate from the official US numbers for the drinks it is based on, and I am showing you exactly how I got there so you can judge it yourself.
Short version: this is a dessert, it is one of the few Starbucks Halloween drinks with essentially no caffeine, and a Grande is going to land right around 410 calories.
What Is the Black Cat Frappuccino?
Here is what Starbucks has actually confirmed, separate from what the internet is guessing:
- A chocolate cake flavored Creme Frappuccino blended beverage
- Topped with whipped cream
- Finished with chocolate shaped like cat ears
- Available at select US coffeehouses starting October 22, 2026
- Limited time only, alongside a Venti Black Night Cookie
"Creme Frappuccino" is the important phrase. Starbucks splits its Frappuccinos into two families: the Coffee Frappuccinos, which are built on Frappuccino Roast and carry real caffeine, and the Creme Frappuccinos, which have no coffee at all. The Black Cat is in the second group. That single detail drives almost everything below.
One Correction: This Is Not Japan's Black Cat
A few outlets have described the US drink as a blend of acai, raspberry, and cassis. That is not this drink. That is Japan's 2025 Black Cat Frappuccino, which was an acai berry build with dark chocolate and black chocolate sauce.
The 2026 US version is simpler and sweeter: chocolate cake flavor on a Creme base. If you saw a berry description somewhere, it was describing a different drink from a different country and a different year. Worth knowing before you walk in expecting something tart.

Treat every number here as plus or minus about 5 percent. The thing I am least sure about is the cat ear topper, since Starbucks has not said how large it is.
How I Built This Estimate
This is the part most roundups skip, so here is the whole method.
Step 1: Find the closest official drink. The Black Cat is a chocolate Creme Frappuccino with whip. Starbucks already sells one: the Double Chocolaty Chip Creme Frappuccino. Official US figures for a Grande with whole milk and whipped cream are 410 calories, 16g fat, 63g carbs, 58g sugar, 6g protein, 290mg sodium, and 0 to 15mg of caffeine from cocoa. Tall is 310 and Venti is 510.
Step 2: Adjust for the recipe difference. The Double Chocolaty Chip has java chips blended through it, which the Black Cat does not appear to have. Dropping those takes roughly 40 to 60 calories off a Grande. The Black Cat adds a solid chocolate topper instead, which puts roughly 25 to 30 back. Those two changes very nearly cancel out.
Step 3: Sanity check against the family. A Grande Mocha Frappuccino is 370 calories and 51g sugar. A Grande Caramel Frappuccino is about 420 calories and 54g sugar. An estimate of 410 calories and 57g sugar sits exactly where a chocolate Creme Frappuccino with whip should sit. Nothing about it is an outlier.
Step 4: Scale by size. I used the official Tall, Grande, and Venti ratios from the Creme Frappuccino line rather than scaling by ounces, because Frappuccino recipes do not scale linearly. Mini is extrapolated from the 10 oz pour.

The Caffeine Angle Nobody Is Mentioning
A Grande Black Cat Frappuccino should have under 15mg of caffeine, and possibly close to zero. All of it comes from cocoa, not coffee.

That makes it genuinely useful for a few groups: kids on a Halloween outing, anyone pregnant who is watching a 200mg daily ceiling, people who are caffeine sensitive, and anyone ordering after about 3pm who still wants to sleep. It is not the worst thing on the fall board, but it is firmly in dessert territory. I would order it as a treat, not as a coffee run.
How to Order a Lighter Black Cat Frappuccino
The Frappuccino Creme base carries most of the sugar and you cannot remove it without losing the drink. But there is still real room to move:
- Ask for nonfat milk. Saves about 40 calories on a Grande.
- Skip the whipped cream. Saves about 80 calories and 8g of fat. You keep the cat ears.
- Order a Mini or a Tall. A Mini is roughly 250 calories against 410 for a Grande. This is the single biggest lever.
- Ask for fewer pumps of base. One or two fewer pumps cuts sugar noticeably. The texture gets thinner, so it is a real trade.
- Share it. The drink is built to be photographed, and half of one still photographs fine.
Stacking the easy ones: a Grande with nonfat milk and no whip lands near 290 calories. A Mini with nonfat milk and no whip is around 170. Both keep the ears, which is the entire point of the drink.

No nutrition has been published for this either. For scale, a standard Starbucks chocolate chip cookie is 360 calories, and this one is explicitly oversized and sold as shareable, so expect it to land meaningfully above that. I am not going to put a firm number on it until Starbucks does, because "Venti" here describes the size in marketing terms, not a defined volume I can model from.
Pairing the cookie with a Grande Black Cat would put you comfortably over 900 calories for one Halloween stop. Worth knowing before you order both.
Price and Where to Find It
Starbucks has not confirmed pricing. Comparable Frappuccinos run about $6.45 at US baseline, and seasonal drinks usually sit in the $6.25 to $7.45 range depending on your city. Expect the Black Cat to sit near the top of that band, since specialty toppers normally carry a small premium.
The bigger catch is availability. Starbucks said select US coffeehouses, not all of them. That phrasing has historically meant a limited rollout, so check the app before you drive anywhere.
